How Instagram, TikTok and LinkedIn NFC cards work, the four versions on sale and how to choose the right platform.

A social media NFC card is a card that opens one social media profile on the phone of the person in front of you. This guide compares the Instagram, TikTok and LinkedIn cards sold in the Meishi Business Cards Store, explains how they work and helps you decide which one, or which combination, fits what you do.

Short answer: each social media card opens one profile. The person taps the card's NFC chip on their phone or, on versions with a printed QR code, scans it, and your Instagram, TikTok or LinkedIn profile opens with your account loaded. Choose the platform where you post most often, and choose a smart meishi business card instead if you want to share several links at once.

How a social media NFC card works

Each card stores the web address of one profile on an NTAG215 NFC chip. When someone holds the card near the back of an NFC-enabled phone, the phone reads the address and opens it, usually in the platform's app if it is installed, or in the browser if it is not. Versions with a printed QR code can also be scanned with the phone camera, which covers phones without NFC.

The benefit is simple: nobody has to spell out a username, search for it or guess between similar accounts. They land on the right profile and can follow you straight away.

The versions available

Every social media card in the store comes in four versions:

  • Simple — tap only (NFC), with no printed QR code.
  • With QR — NFC plus a printed QR code.
  • With QR + Name — NFC, QR code and your name or handle printed on the card.
  • Name + QR without LC brand — as above, without the LC brand on the card.

In the UK store these range from £9.99 for the Simple version to £34.99 for the Name + QR version without the LC brand. In the international store the Simple version starts from $9.99.

Instagram, TikTok and LinkedIn cards compared

The cards work in the same way; the difference is the platform they open and the people you are trying to reach.

Instagram card

The Instagram card opens your Instagram profile. It suits creators, photographers, hairdressers, beauty professionals, cafés, shops and any business whose work looks good in pictures. Hand it over at the counter, place it near your work, or carry it at markets and events.

TikTok card

The TikTok card opens your TikTok profile. It suits creators and brands that publish short videos, such as performers, coaches, food businesses and retail brands. It works well at live events, pop-ups and anywhere people have just seen you in person and want to see more.

LinkedIn card

The LinkedIn card opens your LinkedIn profile. It suits professional networking: job seekers, recruiters, consultants, salespeople and anyone at conferences or business meetings. A LinkedIn connection often matters more in these settings than a phone number.

Other platforms

The same card is also available for YouTube, X (Twitter), Facebook and WhatsApp. You can see all of them on the social media cards page.

One platform or several?

A social media card opens one profile. That is its strength: the person gets one clear action. If you want to share several platforms, you have two options:

  1. Buy one card per platform. Useful when different audiences matter, for example a LinkedIn card for business meetings and an Instagram card for customers.
  2. Buy a smart meishi business card instead. A smart meishi business card opens a profile page that can hold all your social links, contact details and website in one place.

Our buying guide to NFC, QR and digital-only cards explains the difference in more detail.

Choosing the right version

  • Pick a QR version if you meet lots of people. Some phones cannot read NFC or have it switched off; the printed code covers them.
  • Pick a version with your name or handle if the card will be seen on its own. It tells people whose profile they are about to open.
  • Pick the version without the LC brand if you want only your own branding on the card.
  • Pick Simple if you will always be there to show people how to tap. It is the lowest-priced version.

Ordering, step by step

  1. Choose the platform and the version.
  2. Enter your profile link and any printed details at checkout.
  3. Check the digital proof; production starts only after you approve it.
  4. When the card arrives, tap and scan it on your own phone to cheque it opens the right profile.

Delivery is free on every order.

Mistakes to avoid

  • Linking the wrong account. Copy the profile link directly from the app rather than typing it.
  • Choosing a platform you rarely use. New followers expect recent posts, so pick the account you keep active.
  • Relying on NFC alone with a wide audience. Choose a QR version if you are not sure every phone can read NFC.
  • Using a social card when you need a contact card. If people need your phone number and email, a smart meishi business card is the better fit.

Frequently asked questions

Does the other person need an app?

They do not need any extra app to read the card. The profile opens in the platform's app if they have it, or in their browser if they do not.

Can one card open Instagram, TikTok and LinkedIn?

No. Each social media card opens one profile. To share several links from one card, choose a smart meishi business card with a profile page.

Do all versions have a QR code?

No. The Simple version is tap only (NFC), with no printed QR code. The With QR, With QR + Name and Name + QR without LC brand versions all include a printed QR code.

Which card is best for networking events?

For professional events, the LinkedIn card is usually the most useful. For markets, pop-ups and creative events, Instagram or TikTok often fits better.

What does delivery cost?

Delivery is free on every order.
